IL VALORE DELLA MEMORIA

La memoria della memoria, questa espressione sembrerebbe una “battuta” assurda o uno slogan pubblicitario. E sarebbe davvero tale, se la memoria consistesse nell’apertura di un nostro archivio segreto (individuale o collettivo, poco importa) per riportarne alla luce informazioni preziose che la trascuratezza o, peggio, la volontà di dimenticare, avrebbero tentato di occultare.
Ma non è necessariamente così.
La memoria è un possente strumento per capire e per rispondere stress of this. The war in the Balkans, the Middle East in flames, the threatened "clash of civilizations" show that the hatred between nations and killing of innocents is not a mere legacy of a past dream of nightmares, and then, to our minds the question facing anxious, but they always will, indeed, more so?
The answer implied that we have given to this question until now was the conclusion that the Holocaust had been so monstrous as to be incomprehensible to the common tools of the human mind, which had been, in a word, "madness", is well as criminal madness: the madness of men, the madness of an entire people, madness Hitler. And as such, at least for those who believe in the basic rationality of the human spirit, unique. Enough to justify the true oath with which he ended all of our events, "Nevermore."
We feel however that this approach to the memory is not enough.
Because our premise is not without its critics, the memory is not, in fact, a magnetic draw on data, but is a function of our mind, that know in advance what kind of data to focus attention and which, instead , neglect; to know in advance what problems it faces and, often, has already made, if not a final decision, at least the possibility of response, and look for "in memory" is information which can confirm or reject the opinion itself.
We can therefore indicate the so-called "values" that are actually reviews of which we have already provided a priori and that guide our way to dig deep into the memory? Certainly, yes.
The first of our values \u200b\u200bis called civilization, and it means the progress of human society by the law of the triumph of the strongest support for the weak, the suppression of rival or what is deemed to apply only to companies with nothing to the principle of solidarity. The second value means
enhance the human variety, the richness of the "other" cultures, other languages, of other faiths. It means the free circulation of ideas, not oppose obstacles, not economic.
The third value, finally, shows the dialogue, confrontation, negotiation, as the only tools that can resolve human disputes and prohibited, as a crime, any resort to violence.
"Memory" then it means digging into the past on a selective basis, to seek not so much the exploits of the heroes on the battlefields as the examples of solidarity and cooperation; examples remained unknown but perhaps no less significant, perhaps on the contrary . And 'finally, that this memory that può diventare uno strumento di fiducia nel domani. E’ questa che ci accingiamo a celebrare.
Chi è Amos Luzzatto…

Nato a Roma nel 1928, Amos Luzzato ha ricoperto la carica di presidente dell'Unione delle comunità ebraiche in Italia dal 1998 e fa parte di una famiglia di vecchia tradizione. Il nonno materno, Dante Lattes, fu uno dei principali esponenti della cultura ebraica italiana del secolo scorso e il trisavolo paterno, Samuel David Luzzatto, Shadal, fu docente al Collegio Rabbinico di Padova ed esponente italiano della «Wissenschaft des Judentums». Luzzatto ha trascorso l’adolescenza a Gerusalemme, fino al 1946, e per oltre 40 anni è stato chirurgo in diversi ospedali italiani. Come studioso ha approfondito le applicazioni dei metodi matematici alle ricerche medico-cliniche e ama farsi definire «medico-studioso di cultura ebraica». Tra i suoi scritti, spiaccano i saggi nei libri «Sinistra e questione ebraica», «Ebrei moderni», «Oltre il Ghetto», «Annali Einaudi - Storia degli ebrei d'Italia».
